CNS/CNA Annual Student Conference Planning Information
Preamble:
The Canadian Nuclear Society and Canadian Nuclear Association (CNS/CNA) Annual Student
Conference is a student-organized assembly. Its goal is to serve as a forum for the exchange of
technical information among undergraduate and graduate students, their professors and representatives of the nuclear industry by means of oral presentations of the students' work.
On this page you will find information to guide and facilitate orgranizing a student conference. Good luck and have fun.
Consider creating a web site for your conference (for example, see the 25th conference) and using email for correspondence whenever possible. It will simplify your life, speed things up and save money to boot!
Download this generic conference zip file (478 kb) containing sample form letters, budget sheets, etc. that you can use as templates. This was derived from files for the 1996 (179 kb), 1998 (509 kb) and 1999 (83 kb) conferences. These zip files are password protected. Please contact Bill Garland for further information.
Hints for a successful conference:
Start early to seek sponsorship. Follow up your letter of request with a phone call.
Contact the university professors by email and follow up by phone to get student papers. Check the cc list on a recent Universities Committee report and check out the Who's who page to get the email addresses of professors in the nuclear area. Send them the Call for Papers in Septembers so students can plan their projects with a paper in mind.
